Pincher Creek Pro Rodeo

The Pincher Creek and District Agricultural Society was granted its charter in the 1920s. It became inactive during the war years but was reorganized in 1952 to operate continuously to the present day. Permanent facilities are located in the west end of Pincher Creek and consist of an outdoor rodeo arena, concession booths, the Horse Shoe Pavilion, a soccer pitch, baseball diamond, and a creek walk way. The Ag Society feels they have developed a park that is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing to the surrounding community.

The Ag Society is proud that Jubilee Park and the many activities held there encourage tourism and improvements in agriculture, horticulture, homemaking, manufacturing, and the useful arts. The Ag Society hosts two major events which improve the quality of living in our community. The first is The Gathering of Cowboy Poets, which includes a Western Art Show and Rancher's Rodeo. This event is held annually on the third weekend in June. The second major event is the Pincher Creek Fair and Pro-Rodeo, held annually on the third weekend of August. The main features of the Fair are the Gymkhana, Bench Exhibits, Professional Rodeo, Team Roping, and the best parade in Southern Alberta.

In addition to the main events, the Ag Society supports the 4H Clubs with facilities for their meetings and annual Achievement Days. Other user groups are also welcome to make use of the grounds for a very reasonable rental fee. The Agricultural Society is not a service club, but supports its community both financially and with volunteer time and labour wherever possible. The overall goal of the Agricultural Society is to encourage improvement in agriculture and the quality of life for people living in our agricultural community. We seek to do this by developing and delivering programs and services based on the needs in our agricultural community. We also provide year round facilities for the use and enjoyment of both rural and urban community members.
